In addition to architectural sites, there are also many beautiful parks, plazas, and squares to visit. These places of relaxation and beauty are a huge part of Paris France history, and should not be missed. Most of them are found on or just off of the Champs Elysees avenue, and all are easily accessible from the station near Champs Elysees hotels. One square that many wish to visit is the Place de la Concorde. This square has played a large role in every major French revolution, and was the location of the infamous guillotine that beheaded over two thousand people, including Marie Antoinette. It now holds an obelisk that was a gift from Egypt.

Parc Monceau is possible the most interested park you will ever visit! This British styled park began as a private estate, and a garden which was designed and built by the comedic writer Carmontelle. The park included fake gothic ruins and a pyramid. Half of the land was sold and mansions were built on the property. The remainder is the park you see today, still complete with its pyramid. The park also holds the largest tree in Paris, which can be seen from many windows of high rooms in various Paris hotels. Near the Paris Petit Palais you can also enjoy the United States square, which is near the US Embassy, and offers a beautiful resting place after a day touring the sites you found in our Paris France blog.
