One Million Dollars for Preservation

My best friend’s mother in law always brags about having the best cosmetic surgeon around. I usually laugh at her and then tell her that if I ever need a cosmetic surgeon, I will go to hers but until then I like my original parts. She says that every woman comes to a point where they start to see things heading south and know that it is time to fix it.

I had never thought of it like that but I guess that she is probably right. I asked her for the name of the cosmetic surgeon to keep it in my little black book for when that time came. She wrote it all down and I made sure to ask her just what kind of procedures she has had done in the past.

She told me that she had numerous things done, but that she had gotten a facelift in Milwaukee just about three months ago. I could not believe that she flew there, got a facelift in Milwaukee and then flew back all in about three days time. She said that she usually brings a private nurse with her also, because then there is someone who can take care of her after her surgeries.

My mother asked me if she could come and live with me and my family because she was uncomfortable living by herself and was finding it harder and harder to get around without help. I told her that we would be happy to have her, and turned our guest room into a very nice bedroom for her. I made sure to transfer all of her records to our doctor and I had to find a good special care dentistry office too.

I was having a little difficulty doing that, since we only went to a dentist that specialized in young families. I had to do some serious homework when it came to finding her a dentist that she would be comfortable with and I would also like. There were ten different listings in the phone book for special care dentistry and I vowed to make it to every office before the end of the week to make sure they were clean and had the latest up to date machines.

I found the perfect special care dentistry office on the fourth visit of the week and had my mother’s records transferred to them from her previous dentist. She really likes the dentist at the new place, and I am glad.

We needed an upgrade at our Church because some of the vinyl windows were not looking so good since we had the fire last year. The fire was seen from across the street by a little old lady. The flames were shooting out the vinyl windows. She called the fire department and the response was good enough that the fire did only a little damage.

The worst part is the smoke damage and a little water damage in the bathroom. We had to replace the bathroom vinyl windows right away because they were completely destroyed. We needed to have some windows in the bathroom because it was winter time also and it was very cold that winter. One thing we put off for awhile till we got enough money built up was the replacement of the decorative windows in the main part of the Church.

They are huge decorative windows and we do not want just anyone replacing them. We want it done by a good decorative window professional. We will look around until we find a good window replacement contractor to do the job right. So for now we will live with our new bathroom vinyl windows but not the decorative windows until we hire someone. We are glad the fire did not destroy the entire Church but it has been a lot of work.

When my daughter and her future husband bought their first car together, I told them that they should call my car insurance agent to get their insurance from. After they went and met with my insurance agent, she called to tell me that we have been paying too much for our car insurance. I asked her how she knew that and she told me that they had also met with her future husband’s parent’s insurance agent and he was priced a lot lower.

I called and asked our car insurance company why our rates were so high and I was told that those were their rates and if we would like to check out other car insurance companies, then we could do that. I would have thought that they would value us as a customer and try to lower the rates for us, but that was not the case.

I contacted the other company that my daughter was talking about and they gave me a quote for the same exact car insurance that I had over at the other company for about thirty percent less with the first month free if I agreed to switch over to them for at least a year. Of course, I did it right away and cancelled the other policy with the company that was just way too high.
